Portland Midwife, Caitlin Maddigan, Certified Professional Midwife (CPM), Licensed Direct-Entry Midwife (LDM)

Caitlin Maddigan, CPM, LDM

(she/her)

Midwifery has always been in the air for Caitlin, quietly brewing until she couldn’t ignore it any longer. It started with her first breath, when surrounded by midwives and loved ones, she was born in the water, outside and at home.

At a young age she learned that believing in the inherent power and wisdom of people can be a radical act of rebellion and social justice. She has since dedicated her life to radical acts. She’s worked in an outdoor preschool, as a backpacking guide, and in a middle and high school for teen mothers. In 2013 she switched gears and threw herself at the feet of midwifery. This work has become her home and she remains deeply grateful for the opportunity to bear witness to individuals stepping into their power; whether it’s through birth, miscarriage, abortion, surrogacy, or parenting.
Caitlin Maddigan is a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) through the North American Registry of Midwives, and Licensed Direct-Entry Midwife (LDM) in the state of Oregon. She studied Secondary Education with an emphasis in Social Justice at Prescott College. She began her midwifery education at Birthingway College of Midwifery and through a beautiful and grueling apprenticeship in a busy birth center she found herself as a midwife.

On a warm summer night in 2018 Caitlin gave birth to her first child, Teja Osiris. Teja was born in the water, outside and at home. It was magic.

Caitlin can usually be found encouraging her toddler to climb trees, cross creeks, and roll in the mud. Or maybe you'll see her out dancing with wild abandon in a sparkly jumpsuit. It depends on the day.
