Alicia was born during a thunderstorm on April 21, 1989, at 7:52 pm, weighing 8lbs 2 oz. To this day thunderstorms are her favorite weather phenomenon. She became a mama in August of 2013 when her son, Lucas Oliver, was born during a thunderstorm much like her. Her daughter, Nessa Rebel, was born in June of 2018, also during a thunderstorm. She is a huge dog lover and her dopey, love of a pit bull, Opal, is never far behind her.

Alicia stumbled upon midwifery in 2010 as she was preparing for nursing school. At the time, she was focused on becoming a labor and delivery nurse but still felt there was something missing, something didn’t quite feel right.

Midwifery was the missing piece she had been unknowingly searching for. She dove headfirst into the natural birth world and never looked back. She always knew she wanted to serve others in a way that would help to better the world, to make it a more caring, loving, and welcoming place. She loves babies and children and couldn’t wait to help welcome new souls earthside. Little did she know how head over heels she was about to fall in love with women.

She began her midwifery education in 2012 at Birthingway College of Midwifery where she immediately felt at home in a room full of other women which was an unfamiliar feeling to her. Through midwifery she found comfort and companionship amongst her peers, she found her political voice and pushed herself through comfort zone after comfort zone, pouring her heart, soul, and literal blood, sweat and so many tears into this work that is equally beautiful as it is all-consuming. Midwifery opened her eyes to the incredible and unparalleled power of women when they are allowed and encouraged to trust, believe in, and listen to their own bodies.

In the summer of 2017, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Midwifery and became a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) through the North American Registry of Midwives in the Spring of 2018.

Following the birth of her second child, Alicia stepped back from midwifery to focus on her family and went to work for Planned Parenthood where she was able to continue fighting for reproductive justice and sexual health. She is now very excited and ready to be returning to birth work.

Motherhood consumes most of her time but she wouldn’t have it any other way. In her rare spare time, she enjoys goofing around with her husband, Tim, time away at the coast, reading poetry in the bathtub, and re-watching Grey’s Anatomy, The Office, and New Girl.

"What's the greatest lesson a woman should learn?

that since day one. she's already had everything she needs within herself. it's the world that convinced her she did not."

-Rupi Kaur

Alicia describes herself as a tall, warm, INFP personality type. She is a Taurus to her core, rising Scorpio with a Scorpio moon. She loves as deep as she feels and enjoys hugs, big laughs, the ocean, and all things purple.
