comprehensive fertility education that honors every body's experience

This course is deeply rooted in the fierce belief that every person deserves autonomy and respect. It is designed to meet the needs of those often left out of society’s dominant narrative. If you have ever felt excluded or othered, particularly by healthcare providers, we see you, and we are here for you.

Navigating the fertility world is a lot.

Especially if you don't fit neatly into a young-thin-cis-white-hetero-monogamous-bullshit box.

You shouldn’t have to do it alone.

What is Good Soil?

Comprehensive fertility education that ties together science, magic, and a sense of place. The hope and purpose of Good Soil are two-fold:

  • to tune in to our bodies
  • to tune in to the natural world

Going further, it is to slow down, quiet the noise. To breathe deep and instill a sense of place; a rootedness.

We combine lecture with story, because what good is knowledge if it dismisses lived experience? You will find poetry, laughter, and tears. You will find studies, charts, and graphs. You will be encouraged to look into the depths of yourself so that you may more fully show up for yourself and for your community. It is designed to marry science and magic, heart and head, and reconnect us to the natural world.

"To be rooted is perhaps the most important but least understood need of the human soul."

How does it work?

Good Soil is a comprehensive fertility education training that weaves together the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects of fertility education. We see this deep exploration of self as a cyclical never-ending journey, a way to honor the tiny births and deaths each human experiences as they search within themselves for meaning, clarity and joy. Emphasis is placed on cultivating a sense of place and a connection with the natural rhythms of our world. For this reason, we offer Good Soil in tandem with the cycles of the moon. Each month will begin with the New Moon, a time to cultivate new beginnings after letting go of what no longer serves. From there, our content is presented over 16 weekly lessons containing videos, written material, journal prompts, and suggested reading.

Course Structure & Outline

Each month--or cycle--represents a different facet of ourselves: mental, emotional, physical, spiritual - though each is deeply entwined with the others. Additionally, each month you will be provided with a group of allies - herbs, crystals, guided meditations, journal prompts, and poems - each selected based on their supportive properties pertaining to that month's facet of focus.

Within each cycle, you will receive four lessons; one per week. The structure of those lessons will remain the same: week one looks at assumptions; week two is about tuning into your body; week three is logistics; week four is focused on letting go.

“at 17 years old i stood in my shared apartment bathroom with a positive pregnancy test in one hand and a lit cigarette in the other. i drew a bath. i stared at the wall. and then i asked myself a question that i would continue asking for the next 17 years (and counting) - am i good soil?”

-Excerpt from ‘Good Soil; a story’ by Noelle Myers

Founding member pricing

This is the first launch of Good Soil. While this is work we’ve long been doing, it is the first time we are moving it into a virtual setting. As such, we will be creating it together, with our first cohort. We will be looking to our founding students for recommendations and input in order to customize and improve the course. You will have a hand in crafting Good Soil, and in exchange for your trust and dedication, we are offering reduced tuition.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who are we, and why did we create this course?

This course began as friends venting, wishing, and eventually writing. It is both the sharing of things that make us feel strong and the recognition of the places we don’t. We looked at our own experiences navigating fertility, loss, and parenthood, and dreamt up everything we wished we’d known. All the work we wished we’d done. Parenthood rips your heart out of your body. It breaks and rebuilds you over and over. This course is the preparation we wish we’d had. It is the admission of our own fears, insecurities, and gaps in knowledge. A place to learn and grow. Where science and magic co-exist in symphony. We mix clinical knowledge with personal experience and story-telling.

The premise behind the course was designed and created by (left-right) Caitlin Maddigan, Noelle Myers, Joni Pedersen, and Jami Pedersen (not pictured). Each month will you be introduced to guest educators; friends of ours with stories and knowledge we believe to be invaluable. Please check back for a full list of contributors, their bios, and links to their other work soon!
