Caitlin Maddigan, LDM, IBCLC

Caitlin is a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) through the North American Registry of Midwives and a Licensed Direct-Entry Midwife (LDM) in the state of Oregon. She studied Culture, Power, and Politics with an emphasis on Social Justice Education at Prescott College. She’s worked in an outdoor preschool, as a backpacking guide, and in a middle and high school for teen mothers. She began her midwifery education at Birthingway College of Midwifery, and through a beautiful and brutal apprenticeship in a busy birth center, she found herself as a midwife.

Caitlin lives in Ashland with her three children, Teja, Lichen, and Yael, and her big brute of a loving pitbull, Barley. Each of her children were born at home, welcomed by big belly laughs and whiskey toasts.

Caitlin can usually be found encouraging her toddlers to climb trees, cross creeks, and roll in the mud. Or maybe you'll see her out dancing with wild abandon in a sparkly jumpsuit. It depends on the day.

The good stuff

Caitlin is a tall, warm, sleepy mom. ​Pisces with a Gemini moon. Big fan of bubbles and big talks. 3 wing 4. Loud laugher. A queer kid raised by lesbian surfers.

  • Midwifery has always been in the air for Caitlin; it started with her first breath, when—surrounded by midwives and loved ones—she was born in the water, outside, and at home.

    ​​At a young age, she learned that believing in the inherent power and wisdom of people can be a radical act of rebellion and social justice. She has since dedicated her life to radical acts. In 2013 she threw herself at the feet of midwifery. This work has become her home, and she remains deeply grateful for the opportunity to bear witness to individuals stepping into their power, whether it’s through birth, fertility, miscarriage, abortion, surrogacy, or parenting.
