Collaborative Care

Care for those planning a hospital birth while still seeking the intimate, personalized support of community midwives.

Community birth is a great option for individuals interested in birthing outside the hospital system, but it may not be right for everyone. If you plan on birthing in a hospital, we offer comprehensive concierge midwifery to complement your obstetric care.

With this model, you’ll receive customized relationship-based prenatal care, coordination, and support for your hospital birth, and continued postpartum care at home. This service offers personalized, compassionate midwifery care paired with the resources of a hospital, ensuring your birth plan and preferences are honored while maintaining safety and comfort throughout your journey.

Who is it for?

There are many reasons why someone may plan to have their baby in the hospital but choose prenatal and postpartum care outside the traditional medical model. This option might be right for you if:

  • You feel safest giving birth in a hospital, but want longer appointments focusing on emotional support and education in addition to your medical well-being.

  • Your insurance covers prenatal and postpartum care, but does not cover a home birth.

  • You want an epidural during labor.

  • There is an indication that a hospital birth will be the safest option for you or your baby.

FAQs

  • The main difference is the amount of time spent with Coyote Midwives. Our appointments are 50 minutes in length. In each appointment we will confirm that both you and baby are healthy through taking your vitals, listening to baby’s heartbeat and feeling your belly to make sure baby is growing as we would expect. The longer appointments allow for plenty of time to check in emotionally, answer any questions or concerns you may have and to help translate information provided to you by your hospital provider in a safe and supportive space.

  • At this time, Coyote is not available to support clients at home in the case of accidental home birth. If this is a concern, we can review how to manage an accidental home birth to keep both you and your baby safe. We will recommend that you call an ambulance immediately for safe transport to the hospital.
