Why Choose Community Midwifery Care?
Community midwifery care is built on relationship, trust, and informed choice.
At Coyote, Caitlin serves as your primary midwife, offering longer visits, evidence-based guidance, and care that honors your autonomy, intuition, and family’s unique needs. Along the way, support is held not only through your relationship with Caitlin but through a small, trusted birth team woven into the Coyote model of care.
This kind of care is deeply relational, and it is also rooted in skilled clinical practice. As a licensed midwife in Oregon, Caitlin can order labs and ultrasounds, monitor the health of parent and baby throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, and, when indicated and chosen, administer IV fluids, antihemorrhagic medications, IV antibiotics for GBS, and provide skilled newborn resuscitation and urgent stabilization.
Midwifery care does not ask families to choose between warmth and competence, or between relationship and skill. At its best, it offers both: attentive clinical care, steady presence, and the kind of support that allows people to feel informed, respected, and deeply known.
Prenatal Care
Our hour-long appointments allow for in-depth discussions about your baby’s development, changes in your body, and any concerns. We review screening results, discuss your birth plan, and ensure you feel informed and supported throughout your journey.
Education & Support: Education is central to midwifery care. We provide evidence-based information on topics like birth plans, tests and procedures, labor support, and postpartum recovery, helping you make confident, informed choices.
Monitoring & Lab Work: We monitor your baby’s growth and your health, including vital signs and lab work, ensuring you understand every aspect of your care.
Holistic Approaches: Our care includes nutrition guidance, herbal remedies, and alternative therapies to enhance your well-being throughout pregnancy and postpartum.
Emotional Support: We’re here for your emotional journey, offering space to discuss feelings, concerns, or excitement as you prepare for birth and parenthood.
Collaboration with Hospital Providers: We have a decade of experience working with hospital-based midwives, obstetricians, and perinatologists, ensuring continuity of care whether you’re planning a homebirth or need hospital-based support.
Labor & Birth
Midwifery care is about more than where a baby is born. It is about being known, respected, and supported through one of life’s most transformative thresholds. At Coyote, we believe birth unfolds best in an environment of trust, informed choice, skilled attention, and relational care. We believe people deserve support that honors both the physical reality and the emotional depth of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
